What does a theatre Usher do?

The Usher is the face of the theatre or venue when the public come to see an event or show. They therefore provide exceptional customer service, check tickets, sell programmes and merchandise. Working as an Usher is ideal for those starting our in theatre as it gives them a good overall grounding in FOH, Box Office and Production. Ushers may well move on to work in many different areas of theatre including Box Office , Administration and Marketing.

What does a theatre administrator do?

Administrators allow other members of staff to complete their jobs by completing vital, but often prohibitive, tasks. Administrators are excellent communicators and multi-taskers who work extremely well under pressure in order to juggle paperwork with telephone calls with event organisation and anything else that crops up over the course of a busy day in a theatre or production company office. Administrators might report to the Theatre Manager, General Manager or Administrative Director. Possible career progression include Administrative Director, Production Manager and Events Manager or Theatre Manager.
