About me
My name is Valentina Rosati, I am 30 year old and I originally come from Italy.I have been pursuing a career as a Theatre Director for 10 years and moved to London from Italy at the beginning of 2014.
Now I need to gain experience for the first time in the U.K to continue my career and see it elevate.
Moving to London has been a natural evolution of my artistic career, since I have been studying and loving Shakespeare and the new English playwrights all my life (Sarah Kane, Claire Dowie, Mark Ravenhill, Caryl Churchill amongst my favourites).
While studying at the National Academy of Theatre in Rome, I worked as assistant for established directors and actors like Bruce Myers, Lilo Baur, Luca Ronconi, and Emma Dante. This experience allowed me to adjust to different directing styles in high pressure environments and work on international level productions.
After graduating, I worked for five years at the Marche Stabile National Theatre, directing smaller productions, managing production budgets, media relations, and in general gaining deeper insight into the business side of art.
The senior director for Stabile Theatre was Carlo Cecchi, with whom I worked as assistant director for four years, while maintaining my projects as a director with BelTeatro, a theatre company that I founded in 2007.
In 2013 I taught several workshops at Boğaziçi Universitesi in Istanbul and that same year I won the first prize for the competition "Cantieri di strada- sezione di piazza in piazza", which had been promoted by FNAS (National Federation of Street Artists).
My project was a CIRCUS-THEATRE production called “Lux” inspired by "LULU" by F.Wedekind.
