About me
I am a graduate from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Stage Management degree. The reason I chose this school was because of its varied syllabus and passionate staff. After three years of working to the intense standard expected at RWCMD, and re-affirming that theatre is not just a job, but a vocation, I am now being set loose on the industry, and I cannot wait to get started.Experience in the industry includes being a Venue Technician for Assembly at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014, a placement with Theatr Iolo and ongoing casual crew work with Cardiff City Council Events and Production 78.
I am known for my unbounded enthusiasm and passionate nature. I work hard and have fun whilst doing it. Regional and touring theatre are my passions, and I have a steadily growing Lighting Design portfolio. You can view images of my designs on my website at http://sophiefromleeds.wix.com/sophiewestmorelandld .
And, of course, tea. I’m great at tea.
Additional skills:
Whilst studying in Wales, I have broadened my knowledge and experience in both technical and stage management aspects of Theatre.
Here’s a quick run-down of the skills I have acquired so far: sound and lighting set up/rigging, operation and design; counterweight and hemp flying and knots; safe use of access equipment; basic electrics and power theory including PAT testing, plug wiring, soldering and power equations; rigging of staging and truss as well as basic contact with chain hoists; stage management skills including understanding of relevant paperwork and risk assessments as well as ever growing and invaluable people and time management skills; meticulous and efficient tab-folding and rigging.
