About me
I am a highly enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated professional who strives for perfection. I recently completed a Textiles degree at Morley College specialising my final major project in costume, where I received a distinction. I am well equipped with the necessary sewing skills and knowledge of different fabrics and the appropriate maintenance of them in washing, cleaning, ironing and steaming the costumes accordingly. Working at in The West End, at The National and Kings Cross Theatre I have relevant experience of the high pressured environment of working in wardrobe and the need for acute organisation, an ability to be adaptable and show initiative. As a dresser I have attended to the needs of the actors, I have shown my excellent interpersonal skills, that I am astute and attentive yet take direction well.Designing the costumes for 'Sparks' a play at the Old Red Lion Theatre and 'Don't Wast Your Bullets on The Dead' at The Vaults Festival, Waterloo I developed and exhibited the protocol necessary in character analysis and budgeting whilst realising the vision of the director. I have shown my ability to work closely with the production designer and production team, to illustrate my dynamic and creative ideas and express my visual sensibility. This experience has given me a more thorough understanding of the importance and details in sourcing, acquiring and attributing costume to a character.
Throughout my childhood and school days I participated keenly in all things theatrical, a continual motivator to specialise a career in costume. Working in a team and helping others is one of my greatest joys and I hope that I am able to maximise on this whilst using my skills and knowledge of textile and costume design in the theatre and film.
