The first EVER Stage Management Association Conference!
The Arts Theatre throws open its doors on the 12th February 2012Making history at the Arts Theatre in Central London the great and the
good of the Stage Management world will meet to share information,
wisdom and experience. Expecting 300 stage managers and theatrical
professionals it looks set to be a ground breaking event.
Hosted by Barbara Eifler, Executive Director, and Rebecca Emery, Chair
of the board of the SMA, this conference is going to be the first of an
annual event and resource. Vikki Heywood, former stage manager and now
the Executive Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company will be making
the keynote speech, which will be followed by a panel discussion on
Valuing Stage Management chaired by the charismatic Ken Bennett-Hunter.
In the afternoon break-out sessions and focus groups will have something
for everyone. From a CV and cover letter writing clinic exploring the
dos and don'ts of job applications to a Panel debate on The Touring Code
of Conduct and what that means for stage managers on tour.
Other events planned for the day will be a discussion on where your
career takes you after stage management, a talk on how stage managers
can utilise social media and the internet, and a seminar on how to
create a complex book.
Also included in the day will be two notable launches, A Mystery Musical
Interlude as well as a networking lunch culminating in an evening drinks
reception sponsored by Bridge Insurance who will be launching public
liability insurance specific to stage management at the conference.
