What does an artistic director do?

The Artistic Director is responsible for developing and managing the artistic aims, policies and aspirations of a theatre or production company, often working alongside a Chief Executive. Typical tasks involve fundraising, creative planning, programming, liaising and creative policy development. Artistic Directors will have had a wide range of experience in theatre and have developed their skillbase and knowledge in a variety of areas.
